The Texas Tech football team plans to start Will Hammond at quarterback against Oklahoma State , but Behren Morton will be available, two sources with direct knowledge told the Avalanche-Journal on Thursday, Oct. 23.

That's the same situation as last week , when Hammond started and played the full game at Arizona State, but Morton was available on an emergency basis.

Morton, who had started 20 consecutive regular-season games before then, has been dealing with a lower-leg injury. He originally suffered the injury in the season opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and aggravated it in the Oct. 11 game against Kansas.

Tech (6-1, 3-1 in the Big 12) hosts Oklahoma State (1-6, 0-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium . It'll be the third career start for Hammond, a redshirt fres
