A replica of an Iron Age tower built more than 2,000 years ago is set to be constructed in Caithness. This project will see the first broch built in Scotland in two millennia.
Brochs are tall, double-walled drystone towers found only in Scotland, with surviving ruins scattered across the Highlands , Orkney , Shetland, and the Western Isles. The Caithness Broch Project proposes to build its tower near Latheron, south of Wick.
It comes after the scheme secured planning permission from Highland Council officials, as first reported by the John O'Groat Journal and Caithness Courier. The project, however, still needs to raise sufficient funds to bring the replica to life.
