It’s not often hockey and baseball team up, but for Canada, Friday night will be a little different.
The Soo Greyhounds, in coordination with the OHL, the City of Sault Ste. Marie, and the Peterborough Petes, have nudged their Friday puck drop behind one hour to 6:07 p.m. — a move designed to make room for another big event on the national sports calendar: Game 1 of the World Series, featuring the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.
It’s a rare kind of doubleheader — the Blue Jays haven’t advanced to the World Series in 32 years — and now local fans won’t have to choose between the two.
Doors at the GFL Memorial Gardens will open at 4:30 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m. for Peterborough’s lone visit to the Sault this season.
The Blue Jays are slated to get started in Toronto at 8:00 p.
