GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina congressman says he’ll run for another term in the House of Representatives.
This morning on the Greenville radio program Talk of the Town, Republican Congressman Greg Murphy announced that he’ll run again next year to continue representing the 3rd Congressional District.
Murphy was first elected to the position in 2019 to replace longtime Congressman Walter Jones after he died.
Murphy’s district has seen a shakeup after North Carolina’s Republican-led legislature redrew congressional maps for next year’s election.
The new map moves Beaufort, Hyde, Dare, Craven, Pamlico, and Carteret into the 1st District, while shifting Greene, Lenoir, Wayne, and Wilson counties into the 3rd District.
