The funeral service for Jane Goodall, known all over the world for her pioneering work studying chimpanzees and her advocacy for the environment, will be held next month at the Washington National Cathedral in Northwest D.C.

Goodall's private memorial service is scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 12, the National Cathedral said in a news release on Thursday. The public can watch the service online .

Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, will be the preacher for the funeral, and members of the Goodall family are expected to offer tributes. Other speakers will be announced, the National Cathedral said.
