Lime is expanding its fleet of electric vehicles in Los Angeles with the launch of LimeGliders, a new two-wheeled transportation option that is essentially an e-bike with footrests instead of pedals.
The company announced Thursday that its Gliders are hitting the streets of L.A. following a successful pilot program in Atlanta, Seattle and Zurich.
“The Glider is designed for riders who may have difficulty pedaling for extended periods, as well as those looking to replace car trips with a more comfortable, two-wheeled option,” said Lime spokesman Hayden Harvey.
During the pilot, Lime found that riders frequently took Gliders on extended trips of more than three miles and 15 minutes, suggesting the seated design encourages longer rides, the company said.
