Four Winn-Dixie grocery stores across Mobile and Baldwin counties wait for new owners after Southeastern Grocers announced this week it would sell most of its stores outside of Florida as part of a rebrand.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Southeastern Grocers issued a statement saying it will change its name to The Winn-Dixie Company in early 2026 and focus its energies on expanding the century-old business in the Sunshine State. With that change comes “the difficult decision to transition ownership” of most Harvey’s and Winn-Dixie stores in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi to other companies, according to SEG’s statement.
