A leading union has demanded an investigation after an employment agency manager was caught on camera warning bin workers not to join the picket line.

The manager, said to be working for the Job&Talent agency, is recorded telling refuse workers they will not get permanent jobs with Birmingham City Council if they join striking workers protesting on picket lines.

Unite has demanded an independent investigation into what it calls the blacklisting of bin workers.

Unite says the warning amounts to a ‘clear threat of anti-union blacklisting’, which is illegal under UK employment law.

It said Birmingham City Council has said it is investigating the claims but said almost two weeks after the issue was raised, Unite was mot aware of any action being taken.
