Former Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier was arrested by the FBI on Thursday on charges related to gambling. Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested on Thursday on separate but related charges connected to a Mafia-involved poker operation.

A few hours later, the NBA released a statement on Rozier and Billups:

“We are in the process of reviewing the federal indictments announced today. Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups are being placed on immediate leave from their teams, and we will continue to cooperate with the relevant authorities. We take these allegations with the utmost seriousness, and the integrity of our game remains our top priority.”

Rozier was drafted 16th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2015. He was a big contributor during Boston’s 2018 EC
