The National Guard will not be deployed to San Francisco, Mayor Daniel Lurie said after a call with President Donald Trump Wednesday night.

Lurie said he spoke with Trump and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem in two separate phone conversations last night and this morning, and that the president “told me clearly that he was calling off any plans for a federal deployment in San Francisco.”

The news followed the announcement Wednesday of expanded immigration enforcement operations in the Bay Area.
