SMITH TOWNSHIP, Mahoning Co., Ohio - A trial scheduled to begin in November for the suspect in a murder case out of Smith Township will not go forward, as the suspect is reevaluated for competency.
An employee at Judge Anthony Donofrio's court told 21 News the trial for 33-year-old Nicholas Cunningham will not go forward as Cunningham's competency is reevaluated.
Cunningham is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary and two counts of violating a protection order in connection with what police described as the "apparent homicide" of 44-year-old Gena Wade of Beloit in October of 2023.
