So when the nation's peak motoring body released figures this week showing Tasmania has recorded a greater increase in road deaths than any other state in Australia, the driving instructor wasn't surprised.

The same questions replay in her mind when she hears about yet another road crash.

"(I think) 'Did I teach that person? Oh my word, how did their family feel?'" she said.

"Particularly if it's someone in my area."
