Playing against Evandale Panthers in TCL's B-grade competition on Sunday, Fitz needed 14 to pass Peter Walker's record of 10,714 runs.

Reaching 13, the 53-year-old equalised and thought he'd been dismissed after edging to third slip, but it was dropped and the milestone was still in his sights.

"It took me about 14 balls [after being dropped] to get it, so I froze up a bit," Fitz said with a laugh.
