A row has erupted in Salford over councillors taking parental leave and not attending public meetings.

Labour councillor Stuart Dickman last attended a council meeting on April 30 this year, and according to a council report he has been away on shared parental leave.

Councillors who do not attend a meeting within six months are required to give up their position - sparking a by-election - unless the council agrees to approve their leave.
