Senate Blocks Bills to Pay Federal Workers

“The Senate blocked a bill Thursday to pay federal employees who have been required to keep working during the shutdown,” the Washington Post reports.

“The bill, which failed to advance by a 54-45 vote along mostly partisan lines, was a political test for senators as the shutdown entered its fourth week. Only three Democrats voted with Republicans to advance the measure put forward by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI).”
