The Toronto Blue Jays were one of the teams reportedly in on Shohei Ohtani when the Japanese phenom hit free agency in 2023. Reports circulated from MLB Insider Jon Morosi at the time that Ohtani was on a plane headed for Toronto, presumably to sign his contract with the club. Ultimately, the two-way superstar went remained in Los Angeles, but traded in his Angels red for Dodger blue.

Now the Dodgers and the Blue Jays are gearing up for Game 1 of the World Series, and Blue Jays manager John Schneider had some words about the failed signing of Ohtani two seasons ago.
