Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was arrested Thursday morning as part of an FBI gambling investigation, according to reports.
Billups, 49, was arrested in Oregon on charges related to an illegal poker operation tied to the Mafia, according to ABC News . He is expected to make an initial court appearance Thursday in Oregon.
More details on Billups’ arrest were not immediately available. His arrest comes one day after he coached the Trail Blazers in a 118-114 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
Billups, in his fifth season as the Trail Blazers head coach, is an NBA champion player and Hall of Famer. He played 17 seasons in the NBA from 1997-2014, including winning the 2004 NBA Finals with the Detroit Pistons. He was named NBA Finals MVP after the Pistons
