CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cuyahoga County leaders are warning struggling residents who rely on food stamps to pay for groceries that they may miss out on benefits come November if the government shutdown continues.
“If these basic benefits lapse even briefly, the consequences will be immediate and devastating. Our local food banks already operate at capacity. They can not absorb the surge and the need that will follow,” said Meredith Turner, a Cuyahoga County councilwoman.
Which is why Turner and other council members are begging the state and federal government to step in and help the hungry before it’s too late.
