GLEN ROCK, N.J. (PIX11) -- Three weeks into the government shutdown, New Jersey lawmakers remain at odds with President Donald Trump over the Gateway Tunnel project.

"We can't let him just blow up this project," said Gottheimer (D-NJ 5th District). "That's why we're here today: to urge him to reverse course."

Gottheimer announced Thursday his plans to write a letter to President Trump and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy demanding they restore the project's funding.

He's also calling on New Jersey Transit and Amtrak to outline for Congress the current and potential future impact of the shutdown and what it will mean for transportation in the region.
