Construction will shut down northbound Interstate 225 in Aurora overnight on Sunday and Monday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The two overnight closures at Sixth Avenue will allow crews to conduct “ bridge rehabilitation work,” including adding new asphalt to even out the pavement, according to a news release from transportation officials.
CDOT officials said the closures will run from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, and from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Southbound I-225 will remain open.
During that time, motorists should plan for up to 20-minute delays because of the detour in place, CDOT officials said. Drivers will exit northbound I-225 toward Sixth Avenue and re-enter the highway at the traffic light.
