A man accused of leading authorities on a vehicle and foot chase that began in La Quinta and ended in Indio was behind bars Thursday.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop for unspecified reasons shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Avenue 47 and Adams Street in La Quinta, but the driver fled, prompting a vehicle pursuit, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The pursuit ended at Avenue 48 and Calhoun Street in Indio when the suspect crashed into “an uninvolved motorist,” Vickers said.
The suspect left his vehicle and ran into a neighborhood, where he was later found and taken into custody.
The other motorist involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs, officials said.
The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
