A four-goal outburst from Jesus Espinosa sparked top-seeded Barringer to a 5-0 home victory over 16th-seeded North Star Academy in the second round of the Essex County Invitational in Newark.
Barringer’s victory advances it to the quarterfinal round of the tournament where it will host eighth-seeded Shabazz, which downed ninth-seeded Newark Central by a 5-1 margin to reach the quarterfinals.
Barringer held a 2-0 lead at halftime before tacking on a trio of goals to expand its lead as the second half progressed.
Kevin Quichimbo recorded three assists and Charlie Chimborazo scored one goal and assisted on another for Barringer (12-3-1).
North Star Academy drops to 5-7.
