A 16-year-old in Arizona will spend multiple years behind bars for brutally beating his teenage girlfriend earlier this year after she refused to come out of her home and speak with him.

Maricopa County Superior Judge Tracy R. Nadzieja on Wednesday ordered Troy Aguilar-Olmos to serve 3 1/2 years in a state correctional facility for the vicious attack , authorities announced. The sentence was handed down after Aguilar-Olmos agreed to plead guilty to two counts of aggravated assault with domestic violence. The judge credited Aguilar-Olmos, who pleaded as an adult, with 87 days of time already served, records show .
