A Hyderabad civil court has granted an interim order protecting actor Chiranjeevi’s personality rights after a plea was filed over the unauthorised use of his name, titles, and likeness on online platforms. The court delivered its verdict on September 26, following Chiranjeevi’s complaint that his film titles and images were being used without permission for promotional merchandise and digital content, including AI-generated memes and videos.

Chiranjeevi argued that such uses could lead to misrepresentation and damage his reputation, especially if the content was manipulated in a negative or defamatory manner. The order, issued by Chief Judge S Sasidhar Reddy, comes amid growing concerns about the misuse of celebrity images and digital likenesses in the era of artificial intelligence.
