Children's author Kate DiCamillo is one of only a handful of authors to have won two Newbery Medals for her work, which includes a host of titles, such as the two that won her that award — The Tale of Despereaux , and Flora and Ulysses — along with titles like Because of Winn-Dixie and the Mercy Watson series about a heroic pig.

Four of her books have been adapted as films over the years.

Her latest is another installment in a trilogy set in a fairy tale world called Norendy. Lost Evangeline takes many familiar fairy tale elements — such as a shoemaker, an evil stepmother, and a tiny Thumbelina-like girl — and builds something new upon them.
