ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A 16-year-old has been arrested after he allegedly shot at police on Wednesday afternoon, triggering a massive SWAT response and forcing Booker T. Washington High School into a soft lockdown during homecoming events.
According to Atlanta police, officers were conducting a “proactive enforcement investigation” involving suspicious people at a gas station on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard. The suspect fired a single shot toward police and ran, going into a vacant house near 71 Newcastle Street NW, officers said.
Officers from several teams — including the SWAT, K-9, drone and homicide units — swarmed the area. The teen was found hiding in the woodline near the house and taken into custody.
