Police in Essex, Massachusetts, are searching for a driver they said left the scene after hitting a child on an electric scooter and then flagging down an officer.
The crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Western Avenue and Pond Street.

The 11-year-old child was not seriously hurt and did not require hospitalization, police said. The victim's parents responded to the scene.
Essex police said the driver, an older man, was in a silver or grey Mercedes-Benz convertible with Florida plates.
The man flagged down a police officer before driving off, according to authorities.
