The entire White House East Wing has been demolished as President Donald Trump moves forward with construction of a ballroom.
The two-story structure of drawing rooms and offices, including a walkway to the White House, has been turned into rubble.
Tourists to Washington commented on the demolition and coming addition of the White House ballroom.
Deneane Nick said she thinks the ballroom is nice for the country.
“Throughout the years, they've done construction on the White House, different administrations, and this is just another upgrade, so I don't mind it. I think it's nice for our country,” Nicks said.
Julie Scheiner says that past presidents have also done work on the White House.
“We need a ballroom to host all the dignitaries, and from what I understand, the East Wing needed to be renovated as it was to begin with. So, this is the perfect time to do it,” she said.
