There's a new name atop the high school volleyball r ecord books at Montgomery Academy, and that name is Kaci Armistead.

Armistead became the all-time leader in career digs at Montgomery Academy on the first serve of the first game against Brookwood in the Class 6A South Super Regional tournament.

The magic number was 1,466 to dethrone former record holder Addi Vinson. An incredible feat considering Armistead reached the milestone of 1,000 career digs just a little over a month ago on Sept. 4.

"I honestly didn't think about it. I was so locked in on the game that it didn't pass through my head," Armistead told the Montgomery Advertiser.
