Wacey Rabbit was front and centre for the Vancouver Giants’ glory days, and he’s hoping to return to that form.
Rabbit, 38, signed on with the WHL club this summer as an assistant coach, working alongside new bench boss Parker Burgess. Giants fans of a certain vintage remember Rabbit well, since he was a key forward with the Vancouver team that won the 2007 Memorial Cup national championship on Pacific Coliseum home ice.
He was Vancouver’s first-line centre for that playoff run, playing between Milan Lucic and Michal Repik. He had two goals and three points in five Memorial Cup games after amassing 11 goals and 20 points in 22 WHL playoff match-ups. A Boston Bruins prospect, Rabbit was playing in their farm system when the Giants acquired his rights from the Saskatoon Blades in January
