PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Several million dollars will go toward repairing an eastern Arizona highway after devastating floods damaged crucial infrastructure.
On Thursday, the Arizona State Transportation Board approved $3 million to repair flood-damaged sections of the US 60 between Superior and Globe-Miami.
In late September, floodwaters swept through the small mining towns, leaving three people dead. Since the flooding, Globe and Miami have been in clean up and recovery mode .
Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) crews are rebuilding embankments that washed away during the flooding and repairing damaged highway sections. Construction began Monday as crews are focused on restoring two lanes as quickly as possible for travelers.
