A new exhibit celebrating Tennessee's baseball history is officially open at the downtown Chattanooga Public Library.
First curated by the East Tennessee History Center, the exhibit showcases the journey of one of America's favorite pastimes, from Memphis to Music City, and now, the Scenic City.
"We’re putting together a special display, it’s unique," said Jessica Sedgwick, head of the library's local history and genealogy department. "You’ll only see it here in Chattanooga, showcasing some of the treasures that we have in our own collections here.”
The exhibit now includes artifacts from Engel Stadium, including a 1959 letter Engel sent in response to a father excited about his son's prospects for the Lookouts.
