A man was hospitalized after he was shot in the back Wednesday night in Cumberland County, authorities said.

Police responded to the 200 block of Kates Boulevard in Millville around 8 p.m. for a report of gunshots and located several shell casings, according to Millville Police Chief Ross Hoffman.

Officers found no victims at the scene.

A short time later, a 20-year-old Millville man arrived at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland with a gunshot wound to his lower back, Hoffman said.

The man was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden in stable condition, according to the chief.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing and there are no suspects, Hoffman said Thursday morning.
