The Carolina Panthers decided to add a quarterback to their practice squad after Bryce Young suffered an ankle injury against the New York Jets in Week 7. Needless to say, the choice they made was no coincidence.
Mike White, a veteran who spent the entire 2024 season on the Buffalo Bills ’ practice squad and the 2025 offseason with the Bills, was signed by the Panthers earlier in the week.
Despite joining the team, White isn’t expected to be an option to back up Andy Dalton if Young cannot go. That job will likely go to practice squad quarterback Hendon Hooker. White’s job, however, is simple. He was brought in to give the Panthers as much intel as possible heading into Sunday’s game.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales admitted as much on Thursday.
