HANNIBAL (WGEM) - The United Way of the Mark Twain Area wants Northeast Missouri residents to be prepared in case there are disruptions in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the government shutdown.
The University of Missouri Extension gathered data showing that over 6,200 individuals across Northeast Missouri receive SNAP benefits, including:
Lewis County: 700+ individuals (104 households; 52 with children)
Marion County: 3,500+ individuals (850 households; 680 with children)
Monroe County: 700+ individuals (56 households; 34 with children)
Ralls County: 785+ individuals (153 households; 121 with children)
Shelby County: 525+ individuals (177 households; 116 with children)
