FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. –A Scarbro man faces charges for alleged arson and attempted murder in Fayette County.

Michael E. Wood, 46, was arrested Thursday morning and is charged with arson in the first degree and two counts of attempted murder.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen, deputies responded to a residence in the Scarbro area on Wednesday around 9:10 p.m. on reports of a domestic disturbance. McMullen said the suspect fled the scene before law enforcement arrived and couldn’t be located.

Officers were once again dispatched to the same residence around 2:15 a.m. Thursday morning for a reported structure fire. The two occupants of the residence were able to get out safely.
