Larry Bohannan is used to writing about other people's achievements. But on Tuesday, Oct. 21, the longtime golf writer at The Desert Sun found himself in the rare position of being in the spotlight — named Citizen of the Year by the city of Indio during its annual State of the City celebration.

"I thought they sent the email to the wrong person," Bohannan said with a chuckle. "I even emailed back to ask if they were sure."
