In a decidedly Jersey fashion, New Jersey congress members demanded in a letter sent to President Donald Trump that he reinstate the $16 billion Gateway rail tunnel project that he said was canceled.
“Don’t F with the Gateway train project,” said U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-5th Dist., who announced the letter to Trump and US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy Wednesday at the Glen Rock NJ Transit station.
Trump announced the project’s termination during an Oct. 15 White House press conference and reiterated it while talking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, saying “right now there is no funding” because “it’s up to me.”
While not mentioning Gateway by name, Trump referred to canceling two Manhattan projects championed by U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer as retribution for Democrats
