As the second-longest government shutdown continues, nearly 50 million Americans risk losing their food assistance, prompting Cincinnati organizations to prepare to support families in need.

Local organizations are determined to prevent families with SNAP benefits from suffering, with local parishes serving meals daily and the Freestore Foodbank ready to welcome more people who may find themselves in need. Advertisement

"We're going to see folks losing SNAP benefits, we're going to see more people be housing insecure," Cincinnati city council member Meeka Owens said.
