KEOKUK (WGEM) - The sixth and final solar panel site is currently being installed in the Keokuk School District.

This comes after the Keokuk School Board recently approved the project after months of data research.

According to Terry Dvorak, the CEO of Red Lion Renewables, who is the project developer, the school district will save between $30,000 and $32,000 per year with the addition of solar energy.

This is a privately funded project by Red Lion Renewables, so the district made no financial investment.

“The school district is not putting up funds that would otherwise go to an arts program [for example], it’s just the opposite,” Dvorak said. “We’re saving them on their electricity budget. That $30,000 or so a year. That helps keep some programs going.“
