The Bay Street Armoury has seen its fair share of history since opening its doors more than a century ago, but on Saturday, Nov. 8, the historic building will add a new chapter to its story.
The Victoria venue will host the first-ever World Boxing Council (WBC) title fight in British Columbia history.
Saanich’s Brandon Colantonio (5-1) will step into the ring that night, taking on Jaye Byard (8-4) for the WBC USA Bridgerweight Championship.
For the 29-year-old Saanich native, it’s a chance to make history on home soil.
“For me, it’s awesome,” Colantonio said. “I’m just stoked to get my belt and have a great performance in front of my hometown fans.”
The matchup marks the biggest moment yet in Colantonio’s growing professional career.
Sitting at 5-1, he’s coming off a confident win ea
