Fort Bend Independent School District is facing criticism from a mother who says the district delayed action after her first-grade son was allegedly sexually assaulted by fellow students at Rosa Parks Elementary School.

The mother, who requested anonymity to protect her child’s privacy, said the incident occurred on Sept. 28.

She was first contacted by the school that day after her son’s teacher noticed he was “walking funny” and sent him to the nurse.

According to the mother, the son did not explain what happened initially. It was only after his grandmother visited that he revealed one student distracted him while another allegedly assaulted him with a stick.
