Emma Stone has been very open over the years about how Emma is not her real name, but it almost wasn’t her stage name either.

The two-time Oscar-winning actress opened up about her original stage name during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (October 22) in New York City.

Emma was on the show to promote her new movie Bugonia , in theaters this weekend.

For those who don’t know, her real name is Emily Stone .

“I actually adopted a stage name for six months,” Emma said. “Because the Screen Actors Guild, it’s like a business bureau, you can only have one person with that name. I was 16, and I decided I wanted to be ‘Riley,’ so I was ‘Riley Stone.’”
