LA CENTER — High school football coaches are busy enough during the season, but John Lambert has taken it a step further this fall.
While guiding the La Center Wildcats through their current six-game winning streak, Lambert also spends Saturday mornings coaching his son’s La Center Youth Football team.
“I’m the real old-timer out there,” said Lambert, 54, with a smile.
The same culture and values Lambert has built over 27 seasons — and through 199 career victories — as La Center High School’s head coach are already taking root in the future Wildcats he now coaches. The same kids he hopes to see again when they reach high school.
Lambert can earn his 200th career high school victory Friday when the Wildcats (6-1 overall, 4-0 Trico League) host Kalama (3-3, 3-1) at La Center Community St
