LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Members of the state Senate are calling for the resignation of the Michigan State Police’s top official and his second in command, accusing them of failed leadership.

Claims of discrimination, disorder and workplace retaliation have surrounded the Michigan State Police.

According to members of the Senate, it can all be traced back to the department’s top officials: MSP Director Col. James Grady and Deputy Director Lt. Col. Aimee Brimacombe.

“Michigan State Police cannot rebuild trust while these two are in charge,” said Sen. Jim Runestad (R-White Lake) during a press conference on Thursday.

Several current and former state police employees have filed lawsuits against the department.
