The New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority will seek a record-breaking $135 million appropriation to the state Housing Trust Fund during the 2026 legislative session.
The funds would be used to help develop some 1,900 rental and single-family housing units, and to offer down payment assistance, home rehabilitation and homelessness services programs.
A legislative committee overseeing the quasi-govermental Mortgage Finance Authority voted Thursday to endorse a bill providing the $135 million in funding, well ahead of the 2026 legislative session.
