A Ginninderra politician has questioned whether a popular sand and swimming spot near a playground is even safe for children after a spate of dog deaths and illnesses.
In late September, three-year-old Kelpie Scout died after swimming at Lake Ginninderra.
Within two weeks, Dachshund puppy Lily passed after playing on the sand and grass behind the children's playground near Nengi Bamir Beach.
Weeks earlier, four-month-old Dalmatian Winnie went into full respiratory arrest after a family day at Lake Ginninderra, according to a Canberra Veterinary Emergency Services social media post.
"Just in 15 minutes she had lost the ability to walk, her muscles tremored uncontrollably, and she had no control over her body," the clinic said.
