A man who allegedly stole a car from a home in Canberra's south has been arrested following a police pursuit.

At around 6.15am on October 23, 2025, police attended a home in Richardson following reports that a man allegedly carrying knives had stolen a vehicle from the residence, police said.

About 7.00am, police sighted the vehicle in Richardson and activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop it.

The driver fled from police at high speed, ACT Policing said.

A short time later, police spotted the vehicle again in Chisholm and attempted to stop it.

The vehicle was seen mounting a dead-end footpath to evade police, before allegedly reversing the car, and damaging a fence. The driver attempted to flee again, further damaging the fence.
