Hands Across Canberra and the Master Builders Association ACT have joined forces again to build a home that will be auctioned off to help those in need.
The home in Whitlam will be constructed by A + P Leemhuis Builders, fourth-generation family builders.
And the four generations were represented at this week's turning of the sod ceremony - Alex and Urselina, their son Peter, grandson Darrell and great-grandson Brody Leemhuis.
A+P Leemhuis Builders was established in 1956 by Alex and Urselina Leemhuis, with the three generations following in their footsteps.
Also at the launch were Hands Across Canberra chair Greg Boorer and MBA ACT chair Frank Porecca.
The Whitlam project will deliver a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house with a pool, close to the eventual Whitlam school site.
