White students were the largest ethnic group in Tazewell County in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education .

Of the 17,632 students attending Tazewell County schools, 88% were white. multiracial students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 4% of Tazewell County students.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Tazewell County, representing 88.5% of the student body.

Jefferson Elementary School had the most even distribution of races among county schools, including 79.3% white students, 7.4% multiracial students, 6.3% Hispanic students, 3.7% Asian students, and 3.1% African American students.
